SLEEPING MASKS: THE BEST TYPE OF MULTITASKING.

Happy Self Care Sunday my friends! I’m so excited to share this post with you because these products are some of my absolute FAVORITES and each have made such a difference in my complexion and the way I feel about my skin.

Since I was a young girl I’ve always loved face masks. It began when my best friend Olivia and I spotted this cucumber peel mask at Eckerd drug store circa 2001. We thought it was nuts that you could put this gooey substance on your face and peel it off fifteen minutes later and have glowing skin (of course at the age of 7 both of us already had pretty perfect skin). With time, my face mask obsession evolved, from CVS to Target, Target to Lush, and now, anything I can get my hands on from Sephora, Ulta, Amazon and other beauty stores (Soko Glam & Glow Recipe). I’ve always felt like I’m at my highest level of self care when I have a luscious face mask on while I sip some herbal tea and read up on the latest Hollywood gossip.

Face masks=me time

Me time=happiness

Once I got to college I found little time for face masks. They became more of a once every other month treat rather than a daily (or even weekly) indulgence. Washing the masks off after the allotted time was frustrating because trying to multitask is already hard enough with homework, exams, classes, cooking, having a social life, etc. I had little time for myself, much less time to relax with a mask on (I also didn’t want to pause my Netflix show just to clean my face—yes, I was super lazy). I felt like there should be a mask you don’t need to wash off. Little did I know, THERE IS ONE -well multiple- and I’m OBSESSED and so is my skin.

Say hello to: Sleeping Masks/Packs

I first stumbled on these godsends when I started following skincare accounts on Instagram this past year. I’ve learned a lot about American and Asian skincare (my loyalty lies with K-Beauty) recently and after many late nights on Insta and Youtube I found the best thing since discovering non-astringent toner, SLEEPING MASKS.

THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR.

A mask WHILE you sleep—it just makes sense. You put it on after you moisturize, you go to sleep, you wake up, you cleanse your face and wash off the mask.

This is MULTITASKING I can get behind.

ALSO—each sleeping mask does something different for your skin, just like every other mask out there. The ingredients are unique and work to target specific issues to give you beautiful, glowing, moisturized skin when you wake up. I’ve tried my fair share of sleeping masks and I’m super excited to tell you about the ones I’ve grown to love below.

• I mainly used images from the companies themselves to showcase not only their products but their brands as well •

COSRX: Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask ($16)

This mask is insanely affordable for all of the perks it offers your skin. In Korea, women use rice extract to hydrate and brighten. With 65% rice extract in the formula of this product, this mask will have you glowing in one nights rest (at least thats how fast it works for me).

Though it says it is a mask, it can also be used as a nighttime moisturizer. I have used it both ways and I prefer it as a mask. The texture of this product is light and creamy and your skin will soak it up before it has the chance to transfer onto your pillowcase—I wear an eye mask every night to block the light from my windows and as much as I worry it will be covered in skincare products it never is (unless I severely overuse or I don’t wait at least ten minutes before putting it on, LET YOUR SKIN SOAK UP YOUR PRODUCTS).

With this mask I’ve seen such a difference in the texture and look of my skin after every use. It contains niacinamide (which brightens) and sunflower seed oil (which hydrates) to create an ideal concoction of ingredients that work all night to deliver quality, noticeable results.

HUGE PLUS—I also think this mask helps with redness and it seems to even my skin tone more than most other products I’ve tried.

If you are looking to try a sleeping mask I HIGHLY suggest this very affordable mask that will make you feel like a million dollars for a mere $16. It is intended for all skin types soooooo—CHECK IT OUT EVERYONE.

Also, COSRX rocks and is definitely a brand you don’t want to miss out on. They have some other game-changing products I can’t wait to share with you guys soon. In the meantime, here is a link to a great post on allure.com about some of their most popular products.

LANEIGE: Water Sleeping Mask ($25)

Guys I know I already went over how much I LOVE this mask in my LANEIGE post, but I had to include it in this list because its AMAZING.

This is the first sleeping mask I tried and its also one of my absolute favorites. This mask does wonders for my skin—it seriously never ceases to amaze me.

The texture is gel-like which is all I could ever ask for in a sleeping mask. The formula soothes your skin with LANEIGE’s Moisture Wrap™ technology that creates a moisture rich, eight-hour time-releasing layer over your skin. The Hydro Ionized Mineral Water used to create this mixture helps to penetrate quicker and deeper into your skin for extra hydration and a dewy look come morning.

The Calming Sleepscent™ in the original mask is subtle and enjoyable, especially before bed. The purple container is a special edition mask that has a lavender scent added to it which calms your mind while the mask is calming your skin all night. You can apply this product after you use your moisturizer or even in place of your moisturizer for the night. The formula will brighten and soften your skin to reveal your most radiant self when you wake.

I was watching a video about this mask on Sephora’s website that said this product is purchased every 12 seconds on average. Do yourself a favor and get in on the secret! TRY IT.

Glow Recipe: Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ($22-$45)

Glow Recipe is something else. This company first got their big break presenting their K-Beauty curations on Shark Tank. They later released this AMAZING sleeping mask along with a Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser and Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer.

I really never thought in a million years that I would love a watermelon scented anything. I’ve always loved EATING watermelon but the fake scents that companies have created to try mimic the real thing have always given me a pit. I hate watermelon “flavored” candies and drinks. I’m a huge— if its not really watermelon I want zero part in it— kind of person.

With that said, how did I end up here—someone who is recommending this “watermelon sleeping mask” to everyone I know? Because enough people gave this thing RAVE reviews an talked me into trying it and I’m SO HAPPY I did. Who knew watermelon has so many beauty benefits?

The formula for this product is packed with skin goodies. First and foremost the amino-acid rich Watermelon Extract which will sooth your skin, Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and gentle AHAs that work all night to exfoliate your skin and clarify your pores. If you feel like you have a dull or uneven complexion this sleeping mask could be the thing to brighten your day.

The texture of this mask is like watermelon jelly. It comes with a scooper that you can use to help you remove the product from the container because it really is like pink goo. I normally use about two scoops and pat the mask onto my face (to not tug and pull on my skin) as the last step in my skincare routine before bed. The mask turns from the original jelly like substance to a solidified gel layer over your skin while you sleep. When you wake up, you just wash the mask off and wash away all of your dead skin cells and impurities that were exfoliated off throughout the night.

This mask is light and creates a watermelon veil on your face while you sleep. I am someone who HATES feeling like I have stuff suffocating my skin before bed so this product is a perfect introduction to a nighttime sleeping mask.

The price is on the higher end but they offer different sizes of the product so you can try it or just dive right in with the largest size. I personally have the mini I bought at Sephora but if I could do it again I would be the mask and moisturizer combo which I linked below. I’m super happy with this mask and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to try something new before bed.

Summer Fridays: Jet Lag Mask ($48)

If you follow Kim Kardashian, or really any blogger right now, then you’ve heard about/seen the Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask. This mask was everyone’s holy grail at Coachella and now it will be the product of the summer. It is a mask that makes you feel like your flying first class with the world at your feet. You will fall in love and never turn back.

I included this mask because it is SO dreamy it might as well be a sleeping mask. I can not tell you how luscious it feels on because it is indescribable. Whenever I talk about this mask to my friends I always tell them that if you looked up dewy skin in the dictionary this mask would be the first thing you see. It is hydrating, soothing and delivers a mix of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants, and gently exfoliating extracts to your skin. When I use this mask my skin feels instantly renewed. My complexion is brightened and I’m ready to show off my face to the world.

The texture of this mask is very creamy and more like a thick moisturizer. It is the richest formula of the four and it also seems to give the best results. I think it’s the most versatile of the group as well. I’ve used this mask as a moisturizer and makeup primer as well as its intended purpose—a mask. I love a product you can use in multiple ways and with the price tag on this gal I definitely want it to be useful and worth it and it delivers 100%.

The mask has a hint of peppermint but it almost goes unnoticed because it really just makes you smell and feel clean and taken care of. While I was writing this I went and applied some to my face and I seriously am always amazed by how soothing and hydrating it really is. A little goes a long way with this one so don’t overdo it or you will end up wasting valuable product.

This mask is not for someone with a budget because once you try it you will never want to live without it. I splurged on it and I’m now wondering how I can always have it stocked in my skincare cabinet, its seriously addicting. There is no need to rinse this product off other than your normal morning cleanse. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this mask. You will look and feel like a famous person after your first application.

This product also has the new Clean at Sephora™ stamp of approval, meaning products are formulated WITHOUT—sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban. All skincare, hair, and makeup brands with the Clean Seal have less than one percent of synthetic fragrances.

If I haven’t made it clear already, I love skincare, specifically face masks, and more specifically, face masks I don’t have to go out of my way to wash off.

Your skin is so important guys, it is your body’s largest organ and it needs all the love and care you can give it. Face masks are good for not only loving your skin but also giving you that happy, “I’m important,” moment we all deserve. Also, the packaging of these masks are so cute (for the most part). Who doesn’t love an aesthetically pleasing package??—only crazy people.

If you have any questions about any of these products (or anything really) feel free to message me through Instagram @girlmeetschampagne.

Treat yourself right, happy multitasking & sweet dreams everyone,
